AHMEDABAD - The Indian Coast Guard seized two Pakistani boats with 13 fishermen off the Jamnagar coast in the Saurashtra region of Gujarat Friday.

A Coast Guard spokesman said that the Pakistani boats were found well within the Indian territorial waters when the fishermen were arrested. The arrested fishermen along with the seized boats were being brought to Okha for questioning.

Earlier this week, six Pakistani nationals, who said they were fishermen, were arrested by the Border Security Force near Lakhpat in Kutch district. The arrested Pakistanis had claimed they had lost their way in the high seas while fishing and had landed in India. An abandoned boat was also seized.

In a freak accident, seven fishermen were thrown into the sea when their boat was involved in a mid-sea collision off the Jafrabad coast in Amreli district.

Four of the fishermen were rescued while the remaining three were still reported missing. An official spokesman said that Coast Guard helicopters and boats are scouring the sea to locate the missing fishermen.
