FATEHPUR SIKRI - An Italian tourist was killed while his wife and daughter were injured as a bus rammed into their auto rickshaw in this Uttar Pradesh tourist town, police said Saturday.
The Italian, identified only as Robert, and his family had reached Fatehpur Sikri from Agra Friday and had taken an auto to the monument ‘Buland Darwaza’. The auto driver halted at a barrier when a speeding bus rammed into the three-wheeler and ground to a halt at the road divider, a police official said.
Robert, 55, was declared dead when he was brought to Agra’s medical college hospital Friday evening. His wife Fumento is said to be serious as she had hit her head in the accident while their daughter Sylvia got minor bruises.
The bus was carrying a marriage party and many of them were also hurt in the accident.
Circle Officer (Fatehpur Sikri) Vinod Kumar said the Italian embassy in New Delhi had been informed about the tourist’s death.
