Mexico City, Dec 4 (IANS/EFE) A 14-year-old killer, known as the “boy hitman” and wanted in Mexico for beheading several of his victims, has been arrested.

Senior military officials said though they have reports that a person was arrested in Morelos state but were unaware if that individual was Edgar Jimenez Lugo alias “El Ponchis”, the daily Reforma reported.

The daily said Lugo was arrested with two of his sisters at an airport in Xochitepec city. The three were planning to travel to Tijuana and from there to neighbouring San Diego, California.

Lugo is accused of working as an assassin for the South Pacific drug cartel and of decapitating and dismembering his victims.

It said the suspect confessed to several murders while being interrogated by federal prosecutors amid heavy military security.

“I killed four people. I decapitated them. I felt terrible doing it (but) they forced me. They said if I didn’t do it they were going to kill me. I only decapitated them. I never hung any bodies from bridges, never,” Lugo said, according to the newspaper.

“They kidnapped me and told me they were going to kill me,” he said, adding that he planned to go to San Diego to visit his step-mother.

One of his sisters arrested at the airport is accused of transporting dead bodies aboard stolen vehicles and dumping them, Reforma said.

Many victims of gang violence have been found decapitated and hung from bridges across Mexico.
