KOLKATA - A 56-year-old railway motorman died on duty minutes after driving a Howrah-Panskura local train to Panskura town Saturday.
A South Eastern Railway spokesman said D.N. Moitra drove the train safely up to Panskura at about 7.35 a.m. “After the train arrived at Panskura, he got down but felt unwell and started sweating profusely,” the spokesman said.
The guard and other station staff rushed Moitra to a nursing home but he was declared brought dead.
The spokesman said the corresponding down Panskura-Howrah local was delayed for 95 minutes and could start only at 10:45 a.m. after arrangements were made for a new crew.
