JAMMU - Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Saturday said 158 two-bedroom houses have been constructed for families displaced by the Aug 6 flash floods in Leh.
“It’s our effort that the people are shifted from tents to the newly-constructed houses,” he said.
Abdullah, who visited Leh Friday to review the rehabilitation work in the cold desert region, told reporters that given the enormity of the disaster, much of the task that we undertook has been accomplished.
The government has also restored hospitals and other facilities that had been swept away in the floods which claimed 183 lives.
