CHANDIGARH - Rash driving has claimed three lives, including that of a child, here since Friday, police said Sunday.

A 21-year-old student was killed in a road accident after his car, which he was driving at 150 km per hour, rammed into a roadside tree in the neighbouring Mohali town Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Mehtab Vir Singh, a first year student at the DAV college here.

It seems that some people were following Mehtab in another car and he was trying to escape. His car was almost cut into two halves, said a police officer Sunday.

In another incident, a 22-year-old man, driving at 113 km per hour, was killed after his car hit a roundabout here. He was identified as Satinder Singh, who had come here from Australia.

In the third case, the Chandigarh Police arrested a 15-year-old boy Saturday who had crushed a four-year-old child under his car Friday. However, he was later released on bail.

Even earlier this month, a 32-year-old man was killed after his car rammed into a boundary wall near Sector 12 here.
