By IANSWednesday, February 16, 2011
ISLAMABAD - The incidents of violence against women are increasing in Pakistan, said Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president Asma Jahangir.
Jahangir said violence against women was taking place everyday due to apathy of the police and the government towards the victims, Daily Times reported Wednesday.
She was speaking at a press conference along with the family of an alleged rape and acid attack victim. The rape took place Jan 16.
Jahangir alleged the police have always favoured the accused in such cases and forced the women to a compromise.
She said the “victims were kiln workers and could not grease palms of the police”.
