NAGPUR - This Maharashtra city was shaken Saturday afternoon when a former legislators son was shot dead by his brother-in-law inside a marriage marquee, police said. The assailant was arrested.
The incident took place at the wedding ceremony of a relative of former Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Indu Nakade from Gadchiroli, in Nagpur this afternoon.
As the wedding rituals were under way, a loud and heated argument erupted between Prakash Nakade, former legislator’s son, and his sisters husband, Rajendra Kapgarte, inside the marriage marquee.
Kapgarte suddenly whipped out a revolver and pumped at least two bullets into Prakash Nakade, as over 2,000 guests looked on in horror.
As the terrified crowd panicked and started screaming and running helter-skelter, Nakade succumbed to the bullet injuries.
The marriage was being held in the upscale Kalamna locality.
Kapgarte was taken into custody by police, an official from Kalamna Police Station said.
