NEW DELHI - A 32-year-old vehicle supplier was allegedly shot by his client in central Delhi after a heated argument between them over pending bills turned violent Friday afternoon, police said.

“The incident was reported from a private company, Shriram Info Visions office in West Patel Nagars E block. The victim has been identified as Uttam Singh,” said a senior police officer requesting anonymity since Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Vivek Kishore was unavailable for comment despite repeated attempts.

“The company is owned by Anil Chillar and Singh provides cabs to Chillars company. Initial inquiry has revealed that the incident was triggered by a financial dispute between the two,” the officer said.

“Singh had gone to claim a pending payment from Chillar when a heated argument broke-out between the two. Things got out of hand and Chillar shot Singh in his right shoulder, said the officer.

Singh was rushed to the Ganga Ram Hospital where his condition is stated to be stable. However, police are yet to register a case since doctors declared Singh unfit to give a statement.

“Chillar has been detained and we are waiting for Singhs statement,” the officer added.

According to police, Singh’s brother-in-law, Assistant Sub Inspector Sudesh Pal is an aide to a senior police official posted in Rashtrapati Bhavan.
