Two drug peddlers held with heroin worth over Rs.1 crore

GHAZIPUR - Two inter-state drug peddlers have been arrested here with heroin worth over Rs.1 crore, police said Saturday.
The two men, in their late 20s and natives of Uttar Pradesh, were nabbed Friday night from Tulsipur area following a joint operation by the special operation group (SOG) and district police. Heroin weighing 1.25 kg was recovered.
“Acting on a tip-off, we intercepted the two youths who were on their way to hand over the consignment to some of their clients,” Inspector D.P. Singh told reporters in Ghazipur, some 300 km from Lucknow.
“Preliminary investigations indicate the two have been supplying drugs to various states, including Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. We are yet to ascertain the place where from they had brought the consignment of heroin that weighed around 1.25 kg,” he added.
