NEW DELHI - Five Bangladeshi nationals have been arrested for committing a robbery in east Delhi, police said Tuesday.

Those arrested were identified as Abu Jalil, Alamgir, Abbu Said, Muneer and Alamgir, all nationals of Bangladesh. They were arrested near Anand Vihar railway station Monday night.

They were involved in a robbery in Dayanand Vihar last month. Four armed men barged into a house and overpowered the occupants and decamped with cash and jewellery on Dec 11 last year, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) I.B. Rani.

We got to know that Jalil and Saidul, who were released from Tihar Jail recently and had gone to Bangladesh, had returned to Delhi with their gang members,” said Rani.

“We conducted a raid Monday night and all the five were apprehended from near Anand Vihar railway station. We recovered some looted jewellery, a pistol and cash, said Rani.
