MUMBAI - In a shocking incident, four minor students of a municipal school killed a friend who refused to buy cigarettes for them, police said Saturday.
The incident occurred Dec 13 when the four, students of a municipal school in Gorai area of Borivli west in north Mumbai, asked their friend, Pintoo C. Desai, 20 to go and buy them some cigarettes.
When he refused, they allegedly assaulted him following which he fell unconscious, an official from the MHB Police Station said.
As Desai lay sprawled motionless, the four panicked believing he was dead and decided to dispose off the body.
They took him to some isolated marshy land near the Gorai Creek area, tied his hands and legs with a heavy stone and dumped the body into the waters.
Three days later, Desai’s body came floating on the beach and police registered a case of murder against unknown people.
After painstaking investigations for nearly three weeks, police finally cracked the murder case and nabbed the four school boys.
“Since they are juvenile - aged around 15 - we cannot disclose their names. They have been sent to the Juvenile Home at Dongri and further investigations are on in the matter,” the official told IANS.
