Budding engineers among seven held for robberies

GHAZIABAD - Seven men, including engineering and computer science students, were arrested for road robberies and two luxury cars and pistols recovered from them in Ghaziabad, police said Wednesday.

The seven accused were arrested Tuesday night during vehicle checks by police on National Highway-24.

The accused confessed that they led a luxurious life and took to road robberies and other crimes for easy money, police said.

“They needed money and robbery was the easiest way to make money so they used to commit such crime and frequently went on pleasure trips,” said Inspector Rajesh Dwivedi of Indirapuram police station.

On the basis of their questioning, police recovered two luxury cars, a motorcycle, three pistols, four knives and cartridges.

The accused include B.Tech students Mayank Tyagi, a resident of Loni, Mohit, a resident of Muzaffarnagar, and Bhupendra Tripathi, a resident of Sultanpur.

Master of Computer Application student Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Bulandshahr, and Bachelor of Computer Application student Manish Chaurasia, a resident of Ghaziabad, were also arrested.

Monu Chaudhary, a resident of Sahibabad pursuing his graduation, and Piyush Sharma, working in a private company, were also part of the gang.
