KUALA LUMPUR - An Indian national convicted of drug smuggling was Tuesday sentenced to death by a Malaysian high court, Xinhua reported.

The Malaysian High Court meted out the punishment to Najmudeen Abdul Kader in Shah Alam city, 25 km from the capital city.

Kader was charged with trafficking 4.04 kg of ketamine, a drug used as a human anaesthetic, through the Kuala Lumpur International Airport in August 2008.

The 27-year-old accused had failed to raise a reasonable doubt on the prosecution’s case, officials said.
