Five choke to death as house catches fire

GHAZIABAD - Five members of a family, including three children, died of asphyxiation here early Tuesday as their house caught fire while they were asleep, police said.

The incident occurred at Chaman Colony area around 2 a.m. Tuesday.

“Those who died have been identified as Chaman, 35, his wife Nagina, 32, daughters Neha, 7, Adia, 5, and two-year-old son Ayan,” Superintendent of Police A.K. Vijaita said.

He said the neighbours noticed smoke coming out of their house and rushed in, where they found the five lying unconscious.

The five were rushed to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
