CHANDIGARH - Punjab’s senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Avinash Rai Khanna escaped with minor injuries after his car was hit by another vehicle here Saturday night. A woman and a child travelling in the other car were seriously injured, police said.
According to the police, Khanna was returning from Garshankar town in Punjab to Chandigarh in his Toyota Innova car when the mishap occurred.
A Zen car was hit by a rashly driven vehicle, which made the Zen spin out of control and cross the road divider and hit the Innova (Khanna’s car) from the front, said a police officer.
“Khanna sustained minor injuries on legs and abdomen. He was immediately taken to PGIMER (Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research) here and was discharged after first aid. However, a woman and a child, who were travelling in the Zen car are admitted at PGIMER in serious condition,” he added.
Khanna’s innova car had just entered this union territory from the neighbouring Mohali town, when the accident happened.
