La Paz, Dec 25 (IANS/EFE) A nine-month-old baby had a miraculous escape in Bolivia when she was rescued from floodwaters by a 10-year-old girl.
The girl saved the baby as a massive flood swept through a mining village, taking away more than 60 rustic dwellings.
The floods occurred earlier this week in Chima village, some 250 km northeast of La Paz, when Rosa saw the nine-month-old baby floating in her carriage in the waters.
The baby’s mother had been looking on helplessly.
“I jumped in and grabbed her with one arm and with the other I swam with all my strength and gave her back to her mom,” the girl told La Razon daily.
While no deaths have been reported due to the floods, 150 families have been affected.
