BHOPAL - A 35-year-old farmer Wednesday committed suicide in Madhya Pradesh’s Damoh district, police said. The victim’s brother said mounting debts forced him to kill himself.

Nandkishore Yadav of Harai village, about 270 km from here, took poison and died, Superintendent of Police D.K. Arya told IANS.

Yadav’s brother Rajaram Yadav said his brother had taken Rs.60,000 as loan.

“My brother’s crop got ruined in the September rains,” Rajaram Yadav said.

“He had taken money from several landlords. Knowing he could not face them, he committed suicide.”
