CAIRO - A man set himself on fire in front of the Egyptian parliament protesting “terrible living conditions”, a media report said.

Abdou Abdel-Moneim Hamadah, 48, stood in front of the parliament, in downtown Cairo, poured fuel on himself and set himself afire, Prensa Latina reported.

A spokesman for the ministry of public health told MENA news agency that the man was in a stable condition after police took him to a hospital.

Police said Hamadah runs a small restaurant in Qantara locality and complained that the government prevents him from buying subsidised bread so that he can resell it to his customers.
