BAHRAICH - Three Chinese nationals, including a woman, were held by paramilitary personnel after they were found taking the photographs of their camps along the Indo-Nepal border in this Uttar Pradesh district Monday, police said.

The three were caught by Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) personnel while they were taking photos.

“As of now, I can only confirm that the three Chinese are in police custody. SSB personnel handed over the three to us,” Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kakkad told IANS. Bahraich is some 140 km from Lucknow.

“Investigations are on to gather more information about the three. It’s too early to say anything in connection with the case,” said Kakkad, who refused to comment anything further on the matter.

“Preliminary investigations indicate of the three, two are engineers and were looking after some installation of mobile towers in Nepalganj,” a police official told IANS.

“We are facing a lot of communication problems while interacting with them,” he added.
