Man held with detonators in Uttar Pradesh

MIRZAPUR - A man was held with 1,950 detonators and a huge quantity of aluminium wire in this Uttar Pradesh district, police said.

Badrilal, 45, was held from Katra town.

“We are yet to ascertain from where the man got the detonators and to whom he was to supply them,” Inspector B.P. Shukla told reporters in Mirzapur, some 300 km from Lucknow.

“As of now we cannot rule out the possibility of the man’s involvement in supplying explosives to Maoists. Investigations are on in this regard,” he added.

The Leftwing rebels are active in the district, Shukla said.

Badrilal’s aide managed to escape, the officer said.
