NEW DELHI - A cyclist was crushed to death by a speeding car in east Delhi and, in a separate incident, two Myanmarese youths were run over by a vehicle in north Delhi Wednesday, police said.
Nigam Singh, 45, was killed near the Anand Vihar flyover around 9 a.m. The car driver was arrested. Medical reports suggested that he was drunk, police said.
“The victim was rushed to hospital where the doctors declared him dead,” said a police official.
In another incident, two Myanmarese youths, who were staying in the capital as refugees, were killed when an unidentified vehicle hit them late Tuesday night in north Delhi, police said.
“Van Lakuk, 16, and Lacuk Bik, 25, were walking along a road near Tivoli grounds in Alipur when they were crushed by a vehicle. We received a call around 2.35 a.m. and on reaching the spot found them dead. The bodies were taken for post-mortem,” a police official said.
The two had been living in the capital for quite some time and worked as labourers.
