NEW DELHI - A constable in the Delhi Police saved the life of his senior, a sub inspector, when an automobile thief tried to shoot him, police said Wednesday.
“When the police intercepted a vehicle thief, Rahul, during patrolling near Modi Mill flyover Tuesday, Rahul took out a country-made pistol and tried to shoot sub inspector Ashish Dalal,” said Additional Commissioner of Police Virender Singh Chahal.
“But, Anil (a head constable) attacked Rahul with a lathi and nabbed him,” Chahal said.
Rahul is involved in 12 cases of auto-lifting. He was on bail and was released from jail in April 2010.
“We have recovered a country made pistol with two live cartridges and five stolen motorcycles from him,” said Chahal.
