Sacked employee tries to kill boss, hits boss’s wife

NEW DELHI - Furious over being sacked, a 23-year-old man tried to shoot his former boss but ended up njuring the boss’s wife, police said Monday. The woman is stable and a search is now on for the assailant.
Wasim, who hails from Rampur in Uttar Pradesh, tried to shoot his former employer Sahbir Khan at Bhajanpura area in east Delhi Monday morning but Khan’s wife Shahnaz Begam came between the two and the bullet hit her.
“The bullet hit her in the right hand. She was rushed to the Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital where her condition is said to be stable,” said a senior police officer.
Meanwhile, Wasim, not able to load his pistol again, fled from the spot, said the officer.
Wasim was employed at Khan’s embroidery unit six months ago. “He was sacked a week ago for regularly drinking alcohol in the factory premises. Before leaving, he threatened to kill Khan,” said the officer.
A case of attempt to murder has been registered and police are looking into the case.
“It seems Wasim came with a motive to kill his employer. Efforts are on to nab him,” said the officer.
