Senior cops to listen to citizens’ problems everyday

NEW DELHI - Senior officials of Delhi Police will be now available two hours (12 p.m. to 2 p.m.) on all weekdays to personally hear grievances of people, Commissioner of Police B.K. Gupta announced Saturday.
He said that he will be also keep time free for 90 minutes on all weekdays from 12 p.m. to 1.30 p.m. for meeting the people.
“I have to give some time for the people. We are here for the people. I will be available to hear the grievances of complainants from this Monday on all week days for 90 minutes. The exercise is to improve police functioning in the city,” Gupta told reporters.
All the deputy commissioners of police, assistant commissioners of police and other senior officials will be also available at their offices everyday and listen to their problems, he said.
Noting that he has been meeting a few complainants till now, he said he wanted it to happen everyday.
Gupta also said that people come to the police headquarters and complain so that their cases get hastened. “If I meet them, they will feel satisfied,” he said.
The police chief also said that he has asked all assistant commissioners of police to visit and sit in one police station in their area to improve the the working culture.
Gupta said he will start interacting with his subordinates through videoconferencing facility from his office.
