Man stabs two women in Delhi

NEW DELHI - Two women, one of them a medical student, were critically injured here Saturday after a man, who lived with them but was asked to leave, attacked them with a knife following a row, police said.
Shankar Thapa, 26, was staying with Virginia Shenpin, 24, and her friend Adreline, 23, in Gautam Vihar area of Hauz Khas in south Delhi.
According to police, Thapa and Shenpin had returned from abroad and were preparing for a Medical Council of India examination.
“They (Thapa and Shenpin) were into a relationship and had a break-up three days back after which the woman asked the man to leave their house,” a police officer said.
Saturday morning, the man returned to the house and attacked unsuspecting Shenpin when she opened the door.
He also attacked Adreline as she came to Shenpin’s rescue.
The women were taken to a hospital where their condition was said to be critical.
“As women started crying for help, he escaped from the spot. We are trying to trace the man,” the officer said.
