COLOMBO - More US assistance has reached Sri Lanka to aid the thousands hit by massive flooding.

The latest consignment of American assistance was handed over to Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa by US ambassador Patricia A. Butenis this week.

The supplies include 600 rolls of plastic sheeting and 1,000 mosquito nets and will be distributed to 6,000 families in flooded areas in the north and east of Sri Lanka, a US embassy statement said.

The US government has provided $1.1 million in emergency assistance this year in response to this disaster.
