NEW DELHI - A man who stole 4,000 litres of vegetable oil from a truck in west Delhi was arrested here, police said Saturday. A woman, who plotted the robbery, is still absconding.

Mahesh Gupta, 40, met the truck driver in Baprola area of west Delhi Wednesday, who told him that his truck was loaded with 1,125 cans of refined oil and 425 boxes of Palmolein oil.

“The driver parked the truck in front of a factory in Tilak Nagar and went to have breakfast. Mahesh and Madhu stole 100 cans and 200 boxes of oil,” a police officer said.

Police arrested Mahesh from a godown in Dabri area of west Delhi Friday and recovered the stolen items.

“Mahesh also said he and Madhu had stolen 300 bags of sugar five days ago from Tilak Nagar,” the police officer said.

Madhu is still at large.
