Five injured in Delhi cylinder blast

NEW DELHI - Five people, including two children, were injured in a cylinder blast in a west Delhi house, police said Saturday.

The blast took place in Veena Enclave of Nangloi area Friday night. Four of the injured have been identified as Harish Chand, 38, his wife Rita, 31, and their children - Sumit, 10, and Sujit, 7 - while the fifth person is yet to be identified.

“Rita was cooking when the blast took place. All the injured were taken to Sonia Hospital in the same area,” a fire official said.

Police said the blast was so powerful that a portion of the roof collapsed.
