Alert cops catch three auto-thieves

NEW DELHI - Alert beat constables have arrested three auto-lifters in north Delhi and several stolen vehicles have been recovered, police said Saturday.
In the first incident, Anil Kumar, a resident of Sonepat in Haryana and a tempo driver, was held in Y Block in Mangolpuri area at around 12 noon and a car stolen from South Rohini area recovered from him.
“During interrogation, he said he worked along with his associate Parvesh, who is also involved in similar cases in Rajouri Garden (area of west Delhi) and is presently in Sonepat jail,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer) Chhaya Sharma.
In the second incident, Deepak Bhardwaj, 26, a resident of Shahbad Dairy, was apprehended from Rani Khera Road in Kanjhawla area while checking two-wheelers at around 10.30 p.m.
“We have recovered two stolen bikes and cars from him. During interrogation, he told us that he along with his associates Rohit and Monu also stole a bike from Geeta Colony and two cars from Begampur and Dabri. Efforts are on to locate the whereabouts of Rohit and Monu, said Sharma.
Bhardwaj, a graduate and working in a medicine shop, began stealing vehicles after being influenced by Rohit and Monu.
In the third incident, Harsh Dhingra, 22, was held from Shiva Road at Sector-8 in Rohini Friday with a stolen motorcycle. He confessed his involvement in a series of bike thefts in north and west Delhi areas.
A Scorpio stolen from Bindapur, scooter from North Rohini and a motor cycle were recovered, said Sharma.
