NEW DELHI - A businessman was found dead under mysterious circumstances near his factory here and police suspected it to be a case of murder as there was an injury mark on his head.

Om Dutt alias Praveen Singh, 40, owned a factory Prime Steel Trading company at Loha Mandi in Naraina and was residing in Bagdola Village in Sector 28 of Dwarka.

On Thursday night, when he did not return home around 9 p.m. and did not take calls on his mobile phone, the family members called at the factory but were told that he had already left.

“They grew suspicious and rushed to the factory in Naraina and found him lying under the Naraina flyover, just 100 metres away from his vehicle at around 11 p.m.,” a senior police officer said.

They rushed him to All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where he was declared brought dead.

“After investigating the crime scene, it appeared that he had been thrown from a height or might have fallen as nothing was missing. It can’t be a case of snatching and murder,” a police officer said.

“A case of murder has been registered and investigations are on,” the officer said.

Singh is the uncle of Kuldeep who along with his wife Monica was killed June 20 last year in north Delhi’s Ashok Vihar in an incident of honour killing.

Kuldeep and Monica belonged to different castes and his family had suspected someone in Monica’s family in the murders.

Police are investigating whether there is any link between the couple’s murder and Thursday’s incident but the family denies any such claims.

“We are waiting for post-mortem examination reports to ascertain how the man was killed,” the officer added.
