BHUBANESWAR - A retired Indian Administrative Service officer was Tuesday sentenced to three years’ imprisonment by a court here in a corruption case, a lawyer said.

Sanjeeb Kumar Ray, who worked in different posts including collector of Boudh district and vice chairmen of the Cuttack Development Authority at Cuttack, 26 km from here, was accused of amassing illegal wealth worth over Rs.17 lakh.

Special Judge E.V. Rao during trial held him guilty and also asked him to pay a penalty of Rs.1 lakh, prosecution lawyer Sunil Pati told reporters.

Ray’s house and offices were raided by the vigilance department in 2001. Ray said he would move the higher court against the verdict.
