BANDA - A local court here Friday extended by 14 days the judicial remand of Purshottam Naresh Dwivedi, a Bahujan Samaj Party legislator who is facing the charge of raping a girl.

Dwivedi was booked for not only allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl in his constituency, but also passing her on to his henchmen, who were also jailed along with him.

The court has fixed Feb 3 as the next date of hearing in the case.

Livid at the development, the ruling party lawmaker blasted mediapersons hovering outside the courtroom.

He said, “The media is a part of the conspiracy hatched against me by my rivals. They have twisted facts and cooked up a whole case against me.”

His goons even attempted to assault some mediapersons present at the court.
