NEW DELHI - A 24-year-old man has been arrested for killing his elder brother in a rage after seeing him fight with their mother in their south Delhi home, police said Monday
The incident took place Sunday afternoon at Khirki Extension.
“Arvind, a sweeper at a hospital, came home after his work to find his elder brother, Pradeep, 26, fighting with their mother. At first he ignored it, then finding things heating up, intervened to calm Pradeep down but then allegedly hit him with a sharp-edged weapon,” said a senior police officer.
As Pradeep bled profusely, Arvind informed police and then rushed Pradeep to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences trauma centre where doctors declared him dead.
Arvind was arrested there only. During interrogation, he said Pradeep was an alcoholic and every day used to fight with their mother. He said that he hit his brother thrice in rage during the fight Sunday,” said the officer.
A case of murder has been registered at the Sangam Vihar Police station.
“The statements of the accused and his mother have been recorded and the weapon used in the murder has been recovered,” the officer added.
