NEW DELHI - Delhi Police arrested a 25-year-old labourer for allegedly killing his friend and robbing him. A second suspect involved in the killing is on the run, police said Monday.
Ram Badan Yadav, a labourer from Uttar Pradesh, was arrested from Bawana area in north Delhi, where he lived. The victim Amit (25), a contractor living in the same area, was Yadav’s friend, according to police.
Yadav and Irfan, another friend, found that Amit was carrying a lot of cash while all three were drinking at a local liquor shop.
“After getting him drunk, they took Amit to a secluded spot in the nearby park, assaulted and robbed him. When Amit threatened he will complain to the police, they strangled him with their handkerchiefs, dumped the body near his bike and set him on fire so as to make it look like an accident,” the police official explained.
Amit’s body was found Jan 9 morning. Yadav was nabbed from the clue on Amit’s mobile phone that showed that the last call was made to him, said the official.
Search is continuing for Irfan, the other suspect, he said.
