Two minor girls burnt alive

RAIPUR - In a tragic incident, two minor girls were burnt alive in a fire at their home Saturday in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha district, police said.

The incident took place in the early hours at Ranidahra village, some 220 km from Raipur.

According to police, Seema, 4, and Shyamvati, 8, were sleeping along with their 70-year-old grandfather in their hut when probably a fire they had lit inside to ward away the cold engulfed the structure.

“Both the girls were killed. The old man sustained nearly 85 percent burn injuries and is battling for life at a hospital,” officials at the police headquarters here said.
