MUMBAI - The sole survivor of Sunday’s service lift crash at an under-construction building here later succumbed to his injuries, raising the death count in the accident to six, an official said Monday.
“The labourer was brought critically injured and succumbed to injuries late Sunday,” the hospital official said.
He, however, refused to give more details.
According to police, the service lift of Rustomjee Towers, an under-construction 25-storeyed building opposite Ruia College in central Mumbai, came crashing down, killing five labourers.
Mumbai police Sunday booked six people, including the builder, contractor and maintenance supervisor for negligence.
According to police, six labourers were carrying out some lift repairs when its shaft suddenly gave away on the 11th floor and it came crashing down.
