LUCKNOW - A mentally unstable man was stripped and brutally assaulted by people here Friday after he reportedly turned violent and started attacking passers-by, police said.
That the man, aged around 30 years, was mentally deranged became evident when he bit a couple of stray dogs and animals in the Naka area.
According to eyewitnesses, the man first started coming in the way of moving vehicles and later started beating some of the commuters who asked him to move away from the busy road.
Locals in the area caught hold of the man as he continued to attack the passers-by. Locals stripped him, tied him to an electric pole and brutally assaulted him.
Later, the profusely bleeding man was rescued by police.
“The man is being treated at the Chhatrapati Sahuji Maharaj Medical University (CSMMU). According to eyewitnesses, initially he was behaving normally but suddenly turned violent,” Police Inspector Ajit Singh told reporters here.
“We are trying to gather information about him,” he added.
