Arjun Munda surrenders, gets bail in 2007 riots case

RANCHI - Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda Friday surrendered in a court in Garwah district and was later granted bail in the 2007 case involving clashes between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) workers.

Munda surrendered before the court of Judicial Magistrate S.K. Biruwa. He was granted bail on two sureties of Rs.7,000 each.

Some official vehicles were damaged in the clashes between BJP and RJD workers. Munda and 22 others were made accused in the case. The judicial magistrate’s court had issued summons to Munda and later also an arrest warrant.

Munda returned to Ranchi Friday afternoon.
