BHOPAL - Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Thursday got a clean-chit in the three-year-old dumper scam from the Lokayukta, an anti-corruption ombudsman investigating the Rs.2 crore scam, sources say.
The Lokayukta submitted his final report Thursday.
A corruption case was registered against Chauhan in 2007. His wife Sadhna Singh had allegedly bought four dumpers, or special trucks used in the construction sector, for Rs.2 crore, and later leased them to a cement factory.
The allegation was that Sadhna named her husband as S.R. Singh at the time of purchase, and also gave a false residential address.
The contents of the report have not been made public as yet but sources say the chief minister got relief as “nothing significant” was found against him during the investigation.
During the last winter session, Congress assembly members had raised the issue and the assembly was forced to adjourn sine die. The party had also demanded a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the scam.
