Missing Lucknow student found murdered

BARABANKI - A Class 12 student of a private school in Lucknow was Thursday found murdered in this Uttar Pradesh district, police said.

Dwijendra Sharma, 17, who studied in Doon Public School (DPS) and went missing Dec 20, was found dead in a canal in Masauli.

“His (Sharma’s) body was recovered from the Sharda canal. It appears the student died of head injuries that were inflicted by some blunt object,” Superintendent of Police Navneet Rana told reporters in Barabanki, some 35-km from Lucknow.

“We are yet to establish any specific motive behind the murder or trace those involved in the crime. Investigations are being carried out jointly along with Lucknow police,” he added.

According to police, Sharma was a resident of Vikas Nagar area in Lucknow.

Sharma’s family has claimed they did not receive any ransom or threatening call in the period during which he remained missing.
