BHOPAL - A possible disaster was averted Tuesday afternoon when the driver of the Delhi-bound Shatabdi Express ran over an abandoned motorcycle left on the tracks in Sagar district in Madhya Pradesh.

A biker was crossing the rail tracks near Bina station, about 80 km from here, when he saw the approaching train. He panicked and ran away, leaving behind the bike on the tracks around 3.15 pm.

The driver of Shatabdi Express applied brakes in time but couldn’t prevent the bike from coming under the train’s wheels.

Railway officials were reluctant to provide further details.

“When no one is hurt, what is the need to make news?” railway spokesperson K.K. Dubey told IANS.
