GHAZIABAD - A criminal case was registered against two employees of the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation for felling around 150 trees in the Vasundhara area for the marriage function of an Uttar Pradesh minister’s kin, an official said Sunday.

The complaint was registered Saturday by the forest department after an environmentalist alleged that around 150 trees were cut for the marriage function of Vivek Upadhyay, nephew of UP Power Minister Ramvir Upadhyay, held in Vasundhara Dec 8.

“The investigation officer would submit its report after a week of investigation,” an official said.

Environmentalist Vijay Pal Singh Baghel said: We filed a petition before the environment court in Delhi and submitted all facts. The power minister misused his position and utilised municipal services.”
