Rs.50 lakh stolen from clerk’s house, recovered

NEW DELHI - Two people were arrested for looting Rs.50 lakh from a government clerk’s house in west Delhi, police said Wednesday. The money has been recovered.
Two bags, carrying Rs.29 lakh and Rs.21 lakh respectively, were recovered from Mukesh Todi and Vikas. Mukesh was arrested from Seemapuri area in east Delhi and Vikas was arrested from Uttam Nagar in west Delhi Tuesday, police said.
“They had stolen the cash from the Moti Nagar residence of Kuldeep Kumar, a clerk in Delhi Jal Board on the intervening night of Dec 3-4,” a police official said.
The initial police complaint filed in Moti Nagar stated that around Rs.one lakh and some jewellery were stolen from the house, the official said.
According to K.C. Dwivedi, additional commissioner of police (east), Head Constable Satendra Kumar and Rishi Pal and Constable Sudhir Kumar showed unflinching integrity while recovering the cash.
The three will be given a cash reward of Rs.50,000 each, he said.
