FAZILKA - Two Pakistani intruders trying to enter the country illegally through the Punjab border were shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) troopers Friday, an official said.
According to the BSF, one pistol and five rounds of ammunition were recovered from the deceased.
Our officials noticed some movement near BOP (border outpost) Gatty Basoke at around 3.45 a.m. today (Friday). We first challenged the intruders and told them to surrender. But when there was no response, we had to fire at them. They were Pakistani intruders, Pankaj, BSF deputy inspector general (Punjab frontier), told IANS. The officer goes by only one name.
After this incident, we have increased patrolling near the border, all across the state.
Fazilka town, which is in Ferozepur district, is over 250 km from the state capital Chandigarh.
