KOLKATA - Even five days after Rajib Das was killed while trying to protect his elder sister from abusers, Kolkata Police are yet to arrest two of the attackers now on the run.
Rajib Das, a young lad of 16, was severely beaten up by three men Feb 14 night near Barasat in North 24-Parganas when he protested their misbehaviour with his elder sister Rinku Das. He died of his injuries next day.
“One of the accused, Chandan Roy, was arrested Feb 17 and we were interrogating him. He had revealed the names of the other two. We are continuing the search,” state police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Special Inspector General Annuj Sharma said Saturday.
Chandan was arrested and presented before the Barasat district court Feb 17 and remanded in police custody for 14 days.
Chandan was brought to the CID headquarters Bhawani Bhavan Saturday for interrogation, where his statement was also recorded. Later in the evening, Rinku was also brought to Bhawani Bhavan for identification of Chandan, said Sharma.
However, Sharma refused to disclose details of the investigations.
