Minor, friend stab auto mechanic to death

NEW DELHI - A 16-year-old boy and his friend were arrested for stabbing an auto mechanic to death after an argument in Ambedkar Nagar area of north Delhi, police said Thursday.

Nitin, 20, and the boy killed Ram Avtar, a 35-year-old mechanic after a heated argument between them. Avtar was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, police said.

On the night of Feb 14, we found his body lying on the road in a pool of blood. There were three stab wounds on his hip and right thigh. The victim had come to the area to meet his brother, a police officer said.

According to police, the duo were caught after a local shopkeeper, who witnessed the incident, came forward and identified them.

We arrested Nitin yesterday (Wednesday) and after interrogating him, the juvenile was arrested today (Thursday). The duo said they were standing near a shop when Avtar came there and started arguing. They stabbed him in a fit of rage, added the police officer.
