NEW DELHI - Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, parents of murdered teenager Aarushi Talwar, will approach a higher court as soon as they get a copy of a special court’s order to the CBI to put them on trial for their daughter’s killing, a lawyer said Thursday.

We are yet to receive the court order. Once we get it, and look at it - then we will approach the higher court. We can’t do this in a day, but for sure, we will approach the higher court, Rebecca John, the Talwars’ lawyer, told IANS.

John also said that the Talwars were shocked by the Ghaziabad trial court’s order, which they will definitely challenge.

She said this a day after the verdict of a special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court which ordered that Rajesh and Nupur Talwar be tried for the murder of Aarushi.

The court also said that the couple would also be prosecuted for destruction of evidence. The next hearing in the case would be Feb 28.

Aarushi, 14, was found murdered under mysterious circumstances in her parents’ Jalvayu Vihar apartment in Noida, May 16, 2008. Their domestic help Hemraj was initially suspected for the killing, but his body was found on the flat’s terrace a day later.

Rajesh Talwar was arrested soon after the murders but released when investigators could not find evidence to nail him.
