GHAZIABAD - Five children of a family, aged between 6-14, were buried alive when the house they were sleeping in collapsed here shortly after midnight, police said Wednesday.

The incident took place in Islam Nagar locality at around 12.30 a.m.

Police said the front wall of the house was built on a drain by erecting a slab over it. The municipal corporation workers were cleaning the drain and the silt was being taken out by JCB excavators.

Sakir, the house owner, alleged that the house collapsed due to the JCB machine’s impact.
