NEW DELHI - A 24-year old man and his associate were arrested from north Delhi for killing their friend who thrashed the former for making lewd remarks about his wife, police said Monday.
Naveen and his associate, Ajender, 22, were arrested Friday.
They had plotted to kill Sushil after he thrashed Naveen for passing obscene comments about his wife.
“Naveen and his friend Sumit fired six bullets at Sushil on Dec 28 last year at main market of Jhanda Chowk in Narela,” a senior police officer said.
The duo were on a bike and followed Sushil, who had gone to the market with his family.
“While he was making the payment, Naveen fired six shots at Sushil. They tried to flee but their bike failed to start. Both then fled on foot,” the police officer added.
The deceased’s wife Preeti identified both the assailants. She added that her husband had thrashed Naveen in January 2009, which left him bedridden for almost a year.
Naveen was arrested from Singhu Border area of north Delhi when he went to meet his mother Friday evening, the police officer said.
“Ajender was arrested from Shani Mandir Bus Stand at Palla More in Alipur. Sumit and Manoj are absconding,” the police officer added.
Manoj is involved in seven cases of murder, dacoity and attack on a police team in the capital and Haryana.
